You’re Not Bad With Money. You Just Haven’t Had the Right Partner.

I want to start with something I believe deeply – and something I wish more people heard before they walked into a financial advisor’s office for the first time.

You are not bad with money.

You are busy. You were never taught this. You’ve been doing your best with the information and support you had. And for most people, that information and support has been somewhere between incomplete and nonexistent.

That’s not a character flaw. It’s a gap – and it’s exactly what Oak & Co. exists to close.

The story I hear most often

Here’s what I hear in almost every first conversation I have with a new client:

“I make good money, but I don’t know where it’s going.”

“I have accounts, I think – but I honestly couldn’t tell you if they’re doing what they should be.”

“I’ve been meaning to get this together for years. Life just keeps happening.”

Smart people. Capable people. People who are successful in every other area of their lives – and who feel quietly embarrassed about the one area where they’ve never had a real partner.

You’re not alone. And you don’t have to keep guessing.

What changes when you have the right partner

The difference between financial confusion and financial clarity isn’t intelligence. It’s not willpower. It’s not income.

It’s having someone in your corner who knows your whole picture, asks the right questions, and helps you build something that actually fits your real life.

That’s what I do. And it’s what I wish someone had done for me earlier.

I was a first-generation college student who paid for every bit of my education with student loans. I navigated my financial life without a guide, made expensive mistakes along the way, and eventually learned enough to turn that experience into a career built on making sure other people don’t have to figure it out alone.

I became a CFP® because I’ve been the person who needed this – and didn’t have it. That’s not a marketing angle. That’s why I show up differently.

A note for Insurance Awareness Day

Today, May 28, is Insurance Awareness Day – and it’s a fitting reminder that one of the most common gaps I see isn’t in investments or retirement accounts. It’s in protection.

Most families are underinsured – not because they don’t care, but because no one has ever walked through the full picture with them. Life insurance. Disability coverage. The what-ifs that feel morbid to think about but matter enormously if they happen.

That’s part of what a real plan covers. Not as an add-on – as a foundation.
